How Can I Include Accommodations for Students? |
If you serve a diverse group of students requiring different accommodations, TeacherMade has flexible features that can allow you to change how groups of students interact with your materials.
If you wish to have, for instance, an audio-enabled version of an Activity, you'll make a copy of the Activity, then add audio to the copy. Then you can create Assignment for each and give them to the appropriate group of students. Click here for instructions on copying an Activity.
TeacherMade's Assignment option can also be used to differentiate how different students experience the same Activity. You can create an Assignment for each group, setting the options differently based on their needs. For instance the following options can be useful for accommodations:
- "Students Can Check Answers" allows you to set the number of times a student can check their answers (or set it to 0), before they have to submit them to you.
- "Minimum Score To Submit" lets you set the minimum auto-scored score before a student can submit. You can set this differently for different groups of students, or allow some to submit their best effort while directing others to continue practicing.
- Student Text Tool - can be turned on for students who cannot interact well with the standard interactions. They'll be able to add text fields explaining their answers.
- Drawings Tool - allow students to write directly on their submission using drawing tools. This can be very helpful for students who struggle with keyboarding.
- Images Tool - if you're student can manipulate pen and paper, they can take a picture of their responses and upload it with this tool.
- Audio Tool - Another great way for students to respond or annotate their work.
- Speech To Text tool - allow students to use their voice rather than their keyboard to enter responses.
- Read Aloud - The student can choose text from the Activity and TeacherMade will read it to them.
