January 17th, 2025 - Who Has (or Hasn't) Started Working?

We've got a special update just for Google Classroom users! You can now see which of your students has or hasn't started!)your assignments.

When you create a Google Classroom assignment in Classwork.com, we’ll automatically create a submission for every student currently enrolled in your class. This means you'll instantly have a complete list of your students and their assignment progress right at your fingertips. Take a look!

In this example, you can see one of your students is just starting the assignment, but two of them haven't even opened it. You can sort the list by the "Status" field to easily spot who's not doing their assigned work.

There are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Your existing assignments will continue to work. We will not create submissions for existing assignments, but students can begin, continue and review their work as before.
  • The system only creates submissions for students in the class at the moment you create the assignment. Students who join the class afterward won't have "Not Started" submissions created for them automatically. They can still start the assignment in Google Classroom and we'll create a submission for them at that time.
  • If you select individual students while creating the assignment, the system will create submissions only for the selected students, not everyone in the class.
  • Everything else about Classwork.com and Google Classroom works the way it always has. All we're doing is creating submissions so that you can track who has or hasn't started your assignments.
  • You will see the "Not Started" status in the "Students" view, too, which - over time - can help you get a broader picture of one student's completion of assigned work.

Thanks once again to our amazing Product Development team for creating such an easy-to-use and incredibly valuable feature!
