Schoology: Handling the name change to Classwork.com

In the Summer of 2025, we changed our application URL from app.teachermade.com to app.classwork.com.


The following are important steps to understanding and improving your integration between Schoology and Classwork.com: 


  • If you generate a new assignment for Schoology, the app will create a link with our new URL (something similar to https://app.classwork.com/lti/launch/abc123)
  • But because you had setup our app under the old name, your External Tool in Schoology expects the launch URL https://app.teachermade.com/lti/launch.
  • Therefore, Schoology won't be find the External Tool setup.
  • If a teacher pastes a Classwork.com link into their Materials in Schoology, and tries to view it, they will see the error "We were unable to locate an external tool for the specified tool link. Please make sure the provider is configured: External Tool Configuration."
    • The teacher shouldn't click that link, as it takes them to the wrong place.
  • If the student attempts to start that assignment in Schoology, they see a very similar message.
  • To fix this, leave the existing TeacherMade tool in place so that it will match any old assignments still using that URL.
  • Then (as a Schoology administrator) add a second external tool provider using the Classwork URL.
  • Use the same LTI credentials you used for the Teachermade link. If you need those credentials delivered, please contact support@classwork.com


Once the setup is complete, both new assignments with the app.classwork.com URL and older assignments with app.teachermade.com will work.
