Why Can’t I Hear My Audio Recording in Classwork.com? |
If you recorded audio in Classwork.com but don’t hear anything during playback, this is usually caused by your device’s sound settings or by Chrome not having access to your microphone when the recording was made.
1. Check Your Device Volume
Before adjusting browser settings, make sure:
Your device volume is turned up
Your device isn’t muted
Headphones or speakers are connected properly (if you're using them)
2. Check Microphone Permissions in Chrome
If Chrome did not have microphone access during your recording, the audio file may be silent.
To check microphone permissions in Google Chrome:
Select the three dots in the top-right corner of Chrome.

Choose Settings.

Select Privacy and Security on the left.
Select Site Settings.
Select Microphone.Make sure:
Microphone access is enabled
app.classwork.com is NOT listed under Blocked
If it is blocked, change it to Allow.
Refresh Classwork.com and try recording again.
3. Re-record the Audio
If the microphone wasn’t allowed the first time, your original recording may have saved as silent.
To fix this:
Delete the existing audio icon from your Activity.
Re-record your audio after confirming permissions.
Play it back to confirm sound is captured.
4. Test Your Microphone Outside Classwork.com
Record a quick test in another app, such as:
QuickTime (Mac)
Voice Recorder (Windows)
Voice Memos (mobile)
If that recording is also silent, the issue is with the device, not Classwork.com.
